Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy (/ðɔɪ̯̌/ /jæ̌æ/ [curious] [flaw; defect]) is a subtropical Town located in the Hudajo Region of the Confederation of Goblin Tribes.

The name Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy is derived from the Goblin language, as Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy was founded by Carandoliel Lumbiel Losteth, who was culturaly Goblin.

Climate

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a yearly average temperature of 18°C (64°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 9°C (48°F). Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy receives an average of 123 cm/y (48 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4306 m (14127 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy was founded durring the early 11th century, by Carandoliel Lumbiel Losteth. The establishment of Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy was built using the conventions of Goblin durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy is buildings are arranged arrounded a highly ordered system of spacious paverstone streets which form triangular paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Even with that as it is, everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or much of both. The town should be gone, not dying. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Civic Infrastructure

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's parks.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's natural decorations nor waterways.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

There’s a relatively new religion in Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy which is rapidly gaining power. It might be a sectarian offshoot of a major faith, the unique product of a new prophet, or an outside faith backed by wealthy and powerful foreign supporters. Depending on the demands made on believers, the new faith may be a matter of concern only to the existing clergy, or it might be a major flashpoint for conflict in the community.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is long in Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy.

The Brownie near Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century a local hero by the name of saved most of the town when a natural disaster struck Hû Yä̌ä Vǖy. A small order of knights was founded in 's honor, and bears his name to this day.
